Sweet Soul: The Guilt-Free Glow-Up Your Feed (and Body) Needs

Okay, Tampa fam, let’s be real. Living in the Sunshine City means two things are constant: the heat is relentless, and the pressure to be "poolside ready" is real.

But what happens when you’re craving a milkshake, but your fitness tracker is judging you? You go to Sweet Soul.

Located right in the mix of South Howard (SoHo), this place is the aesthetic, plant-based younger sister to the rowdier Ciccio spots like Green Lemon. It’s vibrant, it’s clean, and honestly? It’s probably the most Instagrammable food spot in the zip code. But beyond the pretty colors, the menu is actually legitimate superfood fuel.

Here is why I’m currently obsessed with getting my sugar fix here.

The "No Ice" Smoothie Rule

We need to talk about the price tag first. Yes, a large (24oz) smoothie is $12.50. I know, I know. That’s a salad price. However, read the fine print: No Ice. No Fillers. Most smoothie chains sell you a cup of frozen water with a strawberry waved over it. Sweet Soul is packing these cups with dense, nutrient-heavy ingredients.

  • My Go-To: The Oatmeal Cookie. It’s banana, almond milk, oats, maple, cinnamon, and almond butter. It literally tastes like you are drinking a cookie, but it’s hearty enough to be a full meal replacement.

  • For the 'Gram: The Blue Bahamian. It uses "Blue Majik" (spirulina), coconut milk, and pineapple. It’s electric blue, tastes like a piña colada, and makes you feel like a mermaid.

Local Pro Tip: If you had a rough night out (we see you, MacDinton’s crowd), they offer a Hangover Powder add-on for $2. I don't know the science, but I know the spiritual healing is real.

"Sweet Swirlz" (AKA Ice Cream That Loves You Back)

I am usually skeptical of "plant-based ice cream." It’s often icy or leaves a weird aftertaste. Sweet Soul’s Soft Serve is different. It’s creamy. Like, really creamy.

  • The Order: The Elvis. Chocolate soft serve, banana, and peanut butter. It is rich, indulgent, and hits that salty-sweet spot perfectly.

  • The Vibe: Cookie Monster. Vanilla or chocolate soft serve with a cookie. It feels like a cheat day, but it’s completely dairy-free.

The Soul Bowls

If you want something to chew, the bowls are where the customization happens. You pick a base (Acai, Dragon Fruit, or the blue Nova Blend), pick your granola (the Matcha Granola is a sleeper hit), and then load up on toppings. They have the standard fruits, but the "superfood" toppings are where they shine. Bee Pollen, Ginger Crystals, Hemp Seeds—it’s like an apothecary for wellness.

The Verdict

Sweet Soul is the perfect antidote to the heavy, fried food that dominates the rest of the SoHo strip. It’s fresh, it’s fast, and it leaves you feeling energized rather than sluggish.

Is it cheap? No. But is it cheaper than a facial and a personal trainer? Yes. And it tastes a whole lot better.

Must Order: The Oatmeal Cookie Smoothie (add protein if you just worked out) or the Nova Blend Bowl for the aesthetics.
