Jay Luigi: A Tale of Two Cities (and Two Very Different Parking Situations)

If you follow the local food scene, you know that Jay Luigi is the cool, modern Italian concept that has been redefining "pizza night" in the Bay Area. But here is the thing: depending on which side of the bridge you are on, you are going to get a slightly different experience.

As a local who hops between St. Pete and Tampa regularly, I’ve mastered the art of dining at both locations. Here is your survival guide to hitting up Jay Luigi without getting your car towed or showing up when the doors are locked.

The St. Pete Spot: The 4th Street Staple

Location: 3201 4th St North The Vibe: This is the original. It’s casual, it’s fast, and it fits perfectly into the 4th Street corridor. It’s perfect for a quick work lunch or a low-stress dinner date.

The "Local Pro Tip" (READ THIS CAREFULLY): We need to talk about parking. St. Pete towing companies do not play games, and Jay Luigi has a very specific "Danger Zone." DO NOT PARK at 4th Street Pizza or Bed Pros next door. You will get towed, and nothing ruins a great pepperoni slice faster than a $200 retrieval fee. The Fix: There is additional parking in the GFS Plaza. It’s a short walk. Take the walk. Trust me.

Hours: They keep it consistent here.

  • Sunday - Thursday: 11 AM - 9 PM

  • Friday - Saturday: 11 AM - 10 PM

The South Tampa Spot: SoHo Style

Location: 516 S Howard Ave The Vibe: Located in the old Luv Child spot, this location leans into the South Howard energy. It’s swankier, buzzier, and feels more like a "night out."

The "Monday Blues" Warning: This is the most critical difference between the two spots. The Tampa location is CLOSED on Mondays. I have made the mistake of craving Cacio e Pepe on a Monday night and driving down Howard only to see a dark building. Don't be like me. If it’s Monday, you’re going to St. Pete (or eating leftovers).

The Late Night Perk: Because this is SoHo, they stay open a little later on the weekends.

  • Friday - Saturday: Open until 11 PM.

  • Tuesday - Thursday: 11 AM - 10 PM

  • Sunday: 11 AM - 9 PM

The Verdict

Whether you are hitting the St. Pete counter for a quick lunch (and parking safely at GFS!) or sliding into a booth in Tampa for a late-night Friday dinner, Jay Luigi delivers. The fresh pasta and "NY-Apolitan" pizza are worth the logistics check.

Just remember: St. Pete = Watch the Towing. Tampa = Watch the Calendar (No Mondays!).
